Navigation Screen Blackout After Battery Replacement?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just had my battery replaced at the dealer - and about a week later my
nav screen went black and died. All the other electronic components on my
car are fine. All the buttons/radio controls/AC work. Just the nav
screen/backup cam and bluetooth are out. I took the car back to the dealer
and they claim to have taken the unit apart and can't diagnose the
problem...saying I can only replace the whole system for $2000+. My
question - has anyone heard of this happening? I am convinced it is due to
a faulty battery installation and I want them to replace the system. What
would have caused something like this? Any help/advice would be great.

check the voltage at the battery....it should be 12.5 volts...your equipment sounds like it's suffering from an undervoltage condition....even if a new battery, there are things that can go wrong, such as the cable going to the motor block should be clean and wirebrushed to allow at least 50 amps service...and the clamp-post should have NO corrosion on them black and red too...also there is certainly an auxilliary or two extra red loopers off of the positive cable...(those are from the alternator, and to the devices) perhaps those were not made shiny clean and are creating the undervoltage condition...wirebrush everything for great electrical contact~...think this is about proper voltage to the chassis~ ...good grounding~!

Hey billiegoat - did you figure out what caused your navi issue? I'm having a similar issue, but I hadn't replaced the battery. Navi & bluetooth not working. Occasionally, the screen "reboots" itself, showing the Lexus logo (radio goes out for a few secs when this happens). Climate controls and radio works (including touch screen).
