If a hybrid inverter needed replacing in a 2013 Lexus, is that bad?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm looking at a 2013 Lexus ES 300h with 86K miles. The car will be out of
warranty this month.  The hybrid inverter has been changed out recently. I've
been watching the CarCareNut on youtube and he says they don't usually go
bad. My concern is that if the Inverter needed replacing, could that have hurt
the hybrid battery? The owner noticed the mileage has been going up since
the inverter has been replaced and mentioned that the inverter may have
been bad for a little while. Now I'm wondering if I should just walk away from
this car or still consider it.

Buy a car that is not a project. There may be a lot more wrong with it than the owner is telling you.

Thanks! So the other car I am looking at is a 2015 Avalon with $69K miles. This one would still be under hybrid warranty for 2 years. It's almost the same price as the Lexus. Kind of feel a little more at ease with it being still under hybrid warranty.

G A, What would you suggest that's reliable for $15K or less? That won't be a project?

The Avalon is 2 years newer and has lower miles and it has a warranty. All good factors. Just make sure the price is right and have a mechanic give it a once over before buying.

The Avalon is $13,911 before all the fees. I haven't started negotiating yet. "It is the policy of this dealership that prices are plus tax, tag, title, Private Tag Agency Fee/EFF of $148, and Predelivery Service Fee of $799 (which fees represent cost and profits to the dealer for items such as cleaning, inspecting, adjusting vehicle"

Thank you!! Funny, a 2013 Mazda CX5 is what was completely totaled when I got tboned by a giant pickup and hit a tree. Hence the need for a car now. We like Toyota. Thanks for all the input! May I ask why Honda first? Thank you!
