Car not moving in when shift to D

Asked by cbrowne63 Nov 24, 2020 at 01:27 PM about the 2005 Mitsubishi Montero

Question type: General

When I shift the car into D gear it does not move. I then shift it into gear 1 and
shift through to gear D (as if it is a manual drive). When in D, the car drives
normal. When I get to an full stop, it sometimes "slips" and it sometimes drives
on as if normal.
What could (can) be the problem(s) causing this?

Before claiming to need a transmission, can the problems not be related to faulty speed solenoids?
