Radiator fan stays on all the time

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The radiator fan stays on all the time, it starts as soon as you start the car.and I am pretty sure it doesn't ever go off.  My Mazda is a 2003 model.  I have had some problems with the relays but I am pretty sure that they can be eliminate at this point.  What else should I check for.   Any help on this would be really be appreciated, I am afraid that the fan will not last very long at the rate it is running.  One other note, we also have a 1993 protege, that fan only comes on in the very hotest of weather or when you are in heavy traffic.  Again thank you for any help.

As for the 03 check for a bad coolant temp sensor or a stuck relay. The 93 if the fan does not come on with the ac then the high side switch most likely will be bad...

Check Mazda dealer for a recall on the fan module located on or near radiator. They were known to just flake out and then to continue to run runing battery down.

I finally got with someone at Mazda, they said that there was a problem with the relay you mentioned, and that there was a recall on it and that they may cover it. Thank you for your help. Will let you know what comes of it. Greg
