Automatic window jams in cold weather

Asked by GuruBVKWF Dec 21, 2018 at 11:10 AM about the 2017 Mazda CX-5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2017 Mazda CX 5, and in cold temperatures, my driver side window
freezes and does not come down.  Big problem as I need to lower my window
to access my parking at work, and when the car has been outside all night in
the winter, I am not able to.  Anyone else have this problem?  Dealer is
suggesting that I am an idiot and need lessons in how to lower my window...

I have a 2015 CX-5 and I had the driver side window freeze up today (temperatures around 10 degrees F today). I had the problem one day last winter. Tell your dealer he might be the idiot.

I have a 2019 CX-5 that is a month old and this happened to me today at a Walgreens drive through. Both of my front windows were stuck and wouldn't open. The backs did. I thought I had a lock button on but I didn't. When I got it home in my semi-heated garage, I could open them. This is ridiculous.

Mine does the same thing. 2018cx5. I've brought it up with the dealer multiple times and they said it's because the little water squeegee at the bottom is letting water get behind and then it freezes against the window. They refuse to fix it as they have to "catch it in the act" but with it happening when I leave for work, I can't just run over. And now with Covid you cant just go over either. Using RainX on your window often helps as it prevents the water from freezing.
