04 Kia Sedona overheating

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A/C went out but drive fine for another 1500
miles or so. Then it started overheating. It
went from fine to past the red line in just a
few minutes and then died. Got it off the
road and cooled down but engine was
knocking. Replaced the thermostat, refilled
the coolant and changed the oil. It ran high
for a few days as long as I didn't take it on
the highway. Now it overheats after just a
few miles. Is there a part that might cause
all of the issues?

Searched for the bleeder valve but couldn't find one. Ran engine with radiator open and filled a little at a time until it stopped going down

Bleed air from system like this. Remove cap and fill with anti freeze to full mark, leave cap off and start vehicle and let idle, when vehicle reaches operating temp thermostat will start to open and anti freeze level in tank will drop once this happens add more anti freeze to full mark and put cap back on all air should be gone from system.

Try doing a cooling system flush radiator or cooling ports in engine block maybe clogged. Prestone Super Flush is really good.

If you do a cooling system flush remove thermostat if it is easy to get to and remove.
