Reset it and do a short drive ... 5 miles on a flat surface should give you a clue

Its a fuel efficient car for an AWD actually the best. If ur attracted to AWD you can't go wrong. compare to an outback first... my 2010 outback got about 25.

Our car was getting in the low 20's initially until it broke in. After a few thousand miles the mileage is up to nearly 28 mpg in mountain driving. It can get nearly 40 mpg on the highway if you don't drive to fast. This is for a 2015 Forester with the 6 speed manual. Driving a short distance in the city is not a fair test of mileage at all.

I just drove 725 km to montreal going 110km on the highway with the cruize on and i got 35 mpg. Mine is a 2001 2.5 boxer with a knoching sound and its surprising how tough it is. Made the trip back too and runs like a charm other than the sound. One of my best investement :)
