Where is the door sensor?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Something melted in the handle of my driver side door. Now the car thinks the
door is open all the time. I no longer use the interior lights function that is
linked to the door sensor. I drive with the door open light on my dash. And on
top of that my car alarm likes to go off at really inconvenient times for no
reason.

I'm about to embark on a DIY repair.  Can anyone tell me where the sensors
are for the car door? Or what it looks like? Any suggested is much
appreciated. Thanks!

If it involves taking off the panel, I know how to do that due to a speaker problem from before. I'm only looking for suggestions about the door sensor. Thanks!

Perhaps stop by your local dealership and discuss with the parts department on where exactly the sensor is, but my guess it is integrated into the door latch. The part inside the door.

You likely have a dent in your door frame from closing the seat belt in your door multiple times. You see the latch on your frame? Theres a rubber piece on your actual door on that side that has to be pressed against when closing the door, if it isn’t pressed fully, your car will say the door is open and your car alarm might go off for no reason but some wind, and drain your battery and possibly leave you deserted. Have you noticed if u sit in your car while it is saying the door is open but u pull the door in some it goes off?

I have the same problem with my 2011 and door shuts all the way nothing is bent. Sounds like Kia needs to do a recall to me.
