It is part of the traction control system, if there is a problem with the Stabilitrak the engine may have a sudden lost of power. This issue is common on GM vehicles equipped with the system.

If the transaction control was turned off, could this be why I got a message about the stablitrak? It was turned off, and I turned it on again. I remember when I bought the car, the salesman told me to always keep it on. It could be that one of the kids turned it off by mistake....

Perhaps that is why the message is on the cluster, repeat the operation, off/on. If the light stays on the cluster, try to reset the computer manually; do this: With the engine off, remove the positive terminal from the battery, wait some 15 minutes, replace terminal, turn key to the on position and wait (I count to 10, normal pace), then start the engine. If the light is still on or returns, then you are probably having the same problem of so many owners of GM vehicles with this system, a malfunction that requires technical service.
