Key gets hot in ignition after driving 1/2 or longer

Key gets hot after driving at least a half hour.
The ignition switch is also hot. Noticed after
1 1/2 hours it is very hot.

I think there's only one thing in that area doing that , and that's electrical current , better have it taken care of
