Timing Belt

Asked by Claire10101 Jun 15, 2009 at 12:26 PM about the 2003 Honda Odyssey

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003 Odyssey has 65K miles. Dealer says timing belt needs to be changed.  Recommendations? It seems early to me.

yeah man,do it...if it snaps you'll cry...don't take chances with timing belts, and how hard it's been driving has nothing to do with it at all I would have done it a 50k miles/80k kilometers

As far as mileage goes, I would follow the manufacturer's guidance, but don't let it go beyond 10 years on an interference engine. The belt will be the least of your worries.
