Fuel cut off switch

Where is the fuel cut off switch on a 1998 ford escort estate  the hand book
says it's in the driver's side footwell behind a panel but it's not any clues as to
where else it could be thanks

i drive the zx2/sport and its in the trunk, it even has a little badge sewn into the carpet

in case the sadan or wagon it would be either under or behind the fuse box, witch is located behinde the drivers side kickplate
