What year is your Seat? How many miles? When was the last time you serviced the transmission? As the answers to these questions become clearer, the clouds of confusion will part and the light of truth will shine forth

AHA! The truth has come forth- a transmission does require regular maintenance- check the fluid level right away and add fluid- go get this maintenance, and if you are lucky, no major damage was done- might want to get the other servicin' done too- cars need that ya know

there is a dipstick for the automatic transmission fluid- check it while the engine is running- be careful- if it is low- or nonexistent- (you should see some red fluid on the stick)- you add fluid by putting a funnel in the dipstick opening (with the stick removed of course) and pouring down the correct amount of fluid until it reads correctly- this reguires shutting the engine on and off- adding fluid while it is off- again, be careful- then try driving it to a mechanic- the safest bet, if you can do it, is just to have the car towed to a mechanic- don't blow your very expensive transmission- and next time read your owner's manual and follow the maintenance schedule
