Car stalls out

My car starts and runs but I have to use the
brake and gas method and then if I stop it
dies on me it runs for a while and then I'll
shut off after about an hour or so like if it's
not getting any more gas I change the
distributor cap distributor thing that's
underneath that spark plugs fuel pump the
mechanical fuel pump...could it be the
carburetor or did I mess it up by putting an
electric pump in ??

Check for clogged catalytic converter. Do this test at night start vehicle and let idle for about 5 - 10 min then look under vehicle at converter if it starts to turn cherry red converter needs to be replaced.
