Unscrew the old one, oil the gasket on the new one and hand tighten it. If the old one is stuck on, use an oil filter wrench.

Left to loosey, right to tighty. Make sure the old gasket did not stay on the oil filter mount. If its a filter location that is vertical fill the filter with new oil whether myth or not will not hurt anyway.
