Asked by hgrimm Apr 13, 2011 at 01:17 PM about the 1999 Dodge Avenger

Question type: General

My wife bought a 99 Avenger and it has 215-50-17 tires.  Was that stock ?
Also need a spare for it and don't know what to buy.  Thanks

yes 215/50R17 is the stock tire size. that's a 17 inch rim. they should be directional 5 spoke rims. that was the premium rim. avengers also cam with 14" steel rims (tire size 195/70R14) and 16" rims (size 205/60R16). and just for giggles, you can put a 225/45R17 tire on that rim and it will work. little wider. that's what i use.

Thanks James...appreciate the reply. I understand those cars equipped with 215/50/17 came with a 145/80/18 donut spare which will work because the diameter is within 5%. I'm also looking for one of those.
