I have a 1985 Chevy k20. When I take it out of drive, the shift indicator just moves sloppily and it doesn't go into the right gear. I replaced the shift indicator.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is it in the column? Replaced the instrument
cluster back cause the cable tab holder was
broken. But it didn't fix it. Any help would be
great.

I'm not a mechanic and got this truck to tinker and teach myself to work on vehicles. Is this something I can do our should I take it to a mechanic? And thank you guys for your help.

I just looked under there and the hardware on the transfer case is really loose. Is there supposed to be a bolt holding the bracket on to the transfer case?
