Altezza trunk release not working

Hi, my interior trunk light wasn't working, because the loom plug had come off the fitting.
So I took the interior panels off so I could locate the plug, then reconnect and now the
light is ok.
BUT now my trunk won't release.
I can hear the button operate in the tail handle, but. The latch mechanism does not
release. Any ideas?

Actually I just went and checked it. I locked then unlocked the car (using the key remote) and now it works. I am assuming it is because the battery had gone flat (while I was fixing the trunk light) so maybe the locking system rebooted (excuse the pun) in the wrong mode.
