Did you adjust the idle screw on the throttle linkage? Do the butterflies close completely?

no vacuum leak i can close my choke when it is running put n my hand over carb to block off air motor dies motor dies can not find a vacuum leak ck. with carb. cleaner i am wondering if the problem could be my tourk converter

Are you familiar with carbs or are you just guessing? The transmission is not going to make it idle high. The reason it is idling high is that air is bypassing the carb (vacuum leak). Make sure your ignition timing is not set to far advanced but I doubt that could cause a high idle like this.
