how to access dash wiring for clamshell tailgate?

The dash switches for the clamshell quit working. Fuses is good and outside switches by
the window and gate also work. We think there must be a wiring issue on the dashboard
switches. We tried to get the radio out by starting with the lower dashboard panel, but we
are stuck. Any ideas for me and my husband to try?
