do i have to empty the boot to change the fuel filter on 2001 failrlane ghia 6 cylinder

no,but you do have to release the fuel pressure from the fuel system,you can do it by pushing down on the valve on fuel rail,ware eye protection,once the pressure is released,change filter,turn key switch on,let the fuel pump build up pressure blead the air out of system by useing the same valve,looks like a tire valve on fuel rail.
