i have 1965 ford fairlane 500 2 door hard top

with 289/c4 transmission. the engine will not turn and the question is can i split engine from transmission without disconnecting flex plate from convertor?

No, the mounting bolts are tapped into the crankshaft, you only have access to the flexplate to converter bolts and you need to remove the transmission to get to the others.
