Battery to fuse box wiring issue

Hello! The photo is showing the issue, where the wire has broken in the middle.  
The thick cable at one end connects to the negative terminal of the battery.
Both of the cables branching off of that lead to different places in the fuse box.
The intact cable allows for the car to start regularly, but the one that has
broken in half controls electricity to all the electronics, and I can't shift gears
even after car is running. You may notice I have no real name for this part, to
be honest I'm a novice here. If anyone could tell me any information about that
part, a serial number for it or just a lead for a place I might find a replacement.

I think that can be repaired. Is the black part a connector or a wire clamp of some kind?

With all that red on the connector and it going to the fuse box are you sure it is the negative cable? Looks like it may be the positive cable and you do NOT want to confuse the two. I would try to find a replacement because patching together cables can cause many issues unless done properly. It might be tough to find a new one due to the age of the vehicle.
