Looks like you'll need to use a 10W-40 Engine Oil. Here's one brand you can use: http://www.castrol.com/castrol/sectionbodycopy.do?categoryId=9024084&contentId=7073092
Beat me to the punch, Judge. Never even heard of this car before...Guess that's what happens when a car manufacturer pulls out of the USA though. What I posted above is the weight Castrol recommends, but might be different for Mobil 1 or other brands??

the owner's manual is a .pdf loading...loading...loading, you know this has a FRENCH specification for oil...none of us can put a claw on that....thankfully, my computer will understand FRENCH...do take it's time tho~

synthetic is a possibility...personally are not comfortable with 50,000 mile oil changes...guess the judge still trusts the horsie~

douglasgower, The .pdf instruction manual is out there~ you will get the spec. and NOT be able to buy it here in the states...just go to "SpeeDee oil change" or the like, they will put the right stuff in there~ this is taking too long to load onto my computer~...crikey, it's just motor oil....as long as there is SOME, what kind is secondary~
I think this is a 1.6L cylinder engine that makes 55 HP...It's one of those super econoboxes that's slower than the Prius or Smartcar and certainly doesn't work as hard as even the engines in those 2 cars...I wouldn't waste $$ on synthetic oil for a Twingo (that name sounds like a Hostess Snack...LMAO!)

from the castrol site that RacerX was nice enough to direct us to 0W-30 A3/B4 is what the stuff is~
Judge...No way that Douglas is located in the USA and own a 1994 Renault Twingo (unless he had it shipped over here). My guess is that he's from the UK or France.
Huh? OW-30? That link I provided from Castrol said 10W40 for that year of the Twingo..what gives?? Magnatec 10W-40 A3/B4 RENAULT Twingo 1.2 P 1993 - 1996
Oh I see...Judge, you looked up the oil type recommended for a 1996 Twingo...Douglas has a 1994 Twingo.

guess I goofed.~...that happens more often then not...serves me right for not being all that myopic with the details....spank~
No worries, mate...The engine type appears to be the same from 1994 to 1996, but I guess it's different somehow.

the deux-chaveux 2CV is a 2-stroke...smelly, but great acceleration..same as the East German Trabant....one of the most terrible cars....ever~

in the words of click and clack "the French copy NOBODY and nobody copies the French"~....which upon hearing and seeing this Renault....and Peugeot are unique, but still tackle the same concerns in their own special way~

Racer_X, the NUMBER one Twingo expert (that he's just now being acquainted with~ congrats racer_x~!
LOL!! I haven't even SEEN a Renault since the 80's! They didn't sell well in the USA at all, and like the Yugo, were horrible in terms of reliability! Guess they've improved since then!

When finally the .pdf manual did download it recommended "check the supplemental info for YOUR model"....duck the info...yeah babe~
