Used Car Salesman Lied To Me....

Asked by Margaret Jun 23, 2018 at 02:13 AM about the 2004 Ford Taurus

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I purchased a 2004 Ford Taurus from a small locally owned dealer and paid
cash for the full purchase price 9 days ago because my prior car was totaled
by my insurance in a car collision and I needed something. It has broken
down twice, a belt was not in the place it was supposed to be and 3 pieces
under the hood are locked up. I called the dealer to see if he would take the
car back because of all these problems and that they do not go wrong in 4
days(it was 4 days when I called him). He said no and that the car was in
great shape and had no problems when he sold it to me, and "as is" means
just that, and that I already signed a contract. I have filed a BBB claim and
posted reviews, but is there anything else that I can do? Either personally or
legally? I have an attorney for the car collision and bodily injury- would he be
able to help me?

You seem to be off to a good start. Depending on your state you might be able to do more. Check with the secretary of the state.

It depends on how much you paid for the car and where you live. In New York if you paid less than $1,500.00 then it is as is, $1,500.00 or more has a 30 warranty, and 90 days if less than 80,000 miles.
