Start with battery then cable & connections and finally starter, batteries go bad about every three years. Electronically speaking there is a neutral switch incorporated into the trans shift indicator on the side of the trans.they rarely fail. If the starter clicks hit it or I should say tap on the starter(under right side of the car). while someone holds the switch in start, if it starts chabge the starter I've seen them go a long time after this then of course quit working when you need it most the tap thing only works once. I'm a recently retired ASE Certified Master Mechanic.

What have you checked so far? Does the starter turn the engine over? Do you have spark? Is fuel making it into the cylinders?

I'll stop by in a few minutes to diagnose it. If I don't show up just start supper without me.
