will not idle

jump start ranger will start and accelerator one forth speed wiil run remove foot
idles ,dies checked battery 14 volts, checked cells okay. could be alternator not
charging ?

I don't understand how you have to jump start a vehicle that has battery showing 14 volts. Okay. Whiles it's running, check voltage at battery terminals. It should go up to 14 volts as engine speed increases, and drop with engine speed. If it does that, alternator might be alright. Okay. If you disconnect battery or have some other voltage drops going on, the computer will loose it's memory temporarily. After several drive cycles it will "relearn" it's idle speed and other functions. IF not, scan for codes.
