SBC 350 POPPING SOUND OUT OF CARB AT HIGHER RPM's

Either it is running lean or your timing is too retard. I'd check timing first to see. 10 to 12 degrees B.T.D.C. for initial timing and total timing should be 34-36 degrees.

How high are the RPM's? You might have valve float.
