A stiffer sports suspension, front limited-slip differential, 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, and a 2.0-liter, 197-hp DOHC inline-four engine with 6-speed manual transmission signal the racer pretensions of the 2008 Honda Civic Si. Special Si badging, a large rear wing spoiler, body-colored moldings, and alloy interior trim complete the picture. Not sacrificing safety, the 2008 Civic Si includes 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, dual front-side and side curtain airbags for both rows, daytime running lights, and a tire monitor. The Si adds standard traction and stability control. As with the other trims, this front-wheel drive compact sedan earns five stars in crash tests. Foglights and an auto-dimming rearview mirror cost extra.
Full power features, remote entry, leather trim on the wheel and shifter, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, a power sunroof, security system, intermittent wipers, tilt and telescopic steering, and remote entry offer plenty of creature comforts. To enhance the sporty image, an upgraded 7-speaker sound system comes in the 2008 Civic Si, with the CD/MP3 player, which includes radio information. Like the other trims, available options include an 8-CD changer, satellite radio, and a cargo net and organizer. For the Si, 18-inch alloy wheels are also available.
For 2008, a new MUGEN Si trim uses the same 2.0-liter inline-four engine, but uses lighter-weight tires, a lower ride height, stronger shocks, and a track-tuned suspension to improve performance and road feel. The MUGEN Si also adds a front spoiler, side skirts, and MUGEN-specific badging both inside and out. Only 1,000 will be produced for 2008. Otherwise, interior equipment is the same as that of the regular Si.
