Quality, safety, and luxury are all Audi hallmarks, and they show up in their new luxury crossover SUV, the 2007 Audi Q7 3.6 quattro. The base model features a 3.6-liter, 280-hp V6 engine and 6-speed Tiptronic auto/manual transmission. The 2007 Q7 3.6 quattro comes standard with two rows of seats for five passengers. A third row bench is optional. The 2007 Q7 3.6 quattro is an all-wheel drive SUV that sits on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with a roof rack and power liftgate. Keyless entry, power features, and an 8-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support are standard. Other equipment includes cruise control, leather-wrapped wheel and shifter, dual-zone climate control, a Multi-Media Interface, CD player with audio controls on the wheel, and cupholders for every row. 3.6 Quattro Premium

Avg. Price: $20,292

Several more convenience features distinguish the 2007 Audi Q7 3.6 quattro Premium from the base model. This new crossover SUV is all about luxury, though its all-wheel drive performance is equally outstanding. Powered by a 3.6-liter, 280-hp, 24-valve DOHC V6 engine and 6-speed auto/manual Tiptronic transmission, the 2007 Q7 3.6 quattro Premium sits on 18-inch wheels and features a rear spoiler, intermittent front and rear wipers, a power liftgate, and a roof rack. Trailer wiring helps this crossover tow up to 6600 pounds. ABS brakes, Hill Descent Control, traction and stability control, a mechanical limited slip differential, adaptive xenon headlights, a tire monitor, dusk-sensing headlights, turn signals in the mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and dual-front and all-row head airbags are standard safety and performance features.

The luxury comes in the leather interior. The 2007 Q7 3.6 quattro Premium only has two rows of seating, though a third row is optional. Rear seats split-fold and recline. Other features include dual-zone climate control, the Multi-Media Interface, 8-way power front seats with lumbar support, cruise control, leather and wood trim, and a 6-CD changer with audio controls on the steering wheel. What the Premium adds to the Base is a compass and leather and wood trim on the dash, consoles, doors, and shift knob. Options abound, and include parking assist with a rearview camera, heated seats throughout, rear air conditioning, satellite radio, a large panoramic sunroof, adapative cruise control, and adapative air suspension. An S-Line package adds sport seats, 21-inch performance tires, and unique fascias.

4.2 Quattro

More passenger room and a lot more luxury are hallmarks of the brand new 2007 Audi Q7 4.2 quattro, an upscale crossover SUV with emphasis on comfort and safety. With quattro all-wheel drive, it is also versatile, and features up to 72 cubic feet of cargo space. The 20007 Q7 4.2 quattro comes standard with three rows of seat for seven passengers. Both second and third rows fold flat and the second row also reclines. A 32-valve, 4.2-liter, 350-hp DOHC V8 powers this crossover, matched to a 6-speed Tiptronic transmission. A limited slip differential helps with handling. Hill Descent Control, traction and stability, ABS brakes, xenon headlights, mirror turn signals, dual front-side and all-row head airbags, a tire monitor, rain-sensing wipers, and dusk-sensing headlights are a few standard safety features. Rear side airbags are optional.

The 2007 Q7 4.2 quattro upgrades the 3.6 quattro with a trip computer, sunshades, folding mirrors, garage opener, electrochromatic rearview mirror, 2-driver memory settings, and Bluetooth. This is in addition to 8-way power front seats, leather upholstery, a 6-CD changer with controls on the steering wheel, power everything, a power liftgate, and cruise control. The S-Line Sport Package adds 21-inch performance tires and sport seats. Also extra is adapative air suspension, adapative cruise control, heated front and second row seats, 4-zone climate control, a 3-panel panoramic sunroof, and satellite radio. Drivers report that the third row is cramped and gas mileage less than stellar, but love the smooth quiet ride, comfortable interior layout, and MMI interface.

4.2 Quattro Premium

With a direct fuel injection 4.2-liter, 350-hp DOHC V8 and 6-speed Tiptronic, the four-wheel drive hauler can tow up to 6600 pounds, but is more focused on passenger comfort. ABS brakes, adaptive xenon headlights, stability and traction control, Hill Descent Control, rain-sensing wipers, a tire monitor, dual front-side and all-row head airbags, larger 19-inch tires, and dusk-sensing headlamps are standard.
