The 2005 Scion xA four-door hatchback was powered by a 1.5-liter, double-overhead-cam four-cylinder engine that produced 108 horsepower. A five-speed manual overdrive transmission was standard, while a four-speed automatic was available as an option.
The xA was equipped with a nice selection of standard features, including air conditioning, power windows, power steering, power exterior mirrors, a tilt steering wheel, front bucket seats, and a Pioneer AM/FM stereo system with a CD player.
Safety features included anti-lock brakes and front head airbags.
The xA was also available with a number of dealer-installed items, such as 18-inch wheels in a variety of styles, and exterior body kits. Entertainment upgrades like subwoofers and satellite radio were also available.
Drivers noted that the xA had a surprising amount of space for a compact car, but they also noted that the xA's ride was a bit stiff. Drivers also reported plenty of pickup at highway speeds, but some hesitation between 40 and 50 mph.
