Even the entry-level 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier Base Coupe offered some higher-end creature comforts among its standard features. ABS brakes, air conditioning, tilt-column steering, and a surprisingly good security system made this bargain compact feel like a great deal for its low price.
The '01 Cavalier Base Coupe was a two-door fastback with sleek coupe styling. Under the hood, though, the engine wasn't anything too special: a 2.2 liter inline-four with a 115-horsepower output. Still, that was plenty of power to get the 2001 Chevy Cavalier coupe around the roads with ease.
Yet another attraction was its impressive fuel economy. The '01 Cavalier Base Coupe earned an EPA rating of 22 miles per gallon city, 30 miles per gallon highway. The combination of economy and a bit of sportscar flair made the 2001 Cavalier one of the most popular compact cars in America.
