The 2023 Audi SQ5 Sportback offers the same commanding driving position and athletic handling that the standard SQ5 does, but with the added benefit of a raked roofline that gives it dynamic styling to match its enjoyable performance. The tradeoff is that you lose some cargo space: The SQ5 Sportback has 51.9 cubic feet of cargo space, compared to the 54 cubic feet in the standard SQ5. For 2023, the SQ5 enjoys some minor updates, but is largely a carryover from the previous model year.
Audi offers the SQ5 in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims. The Premium trim comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and wireless device charging. It also comes standard with a dual-screen infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. A Convenience Package is available on Premium models, adding features such as a heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory settings, and side mirrors that fold away when the car is locked.
The Premium Plus trim includes the features from the Convenience Package, and it also adds a fully digital instrument panel, as well as a panoramic sunroof. A Bang & Olufsen premium stereo system now comes on the Premium Plus for 2023. Moving up to Prestige adds OLED headlights, navigation, and a head-up display.
The SQ5 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that puts out 349 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to Quattro all-wheel drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. It allows the SQ5 to launch from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds on the way to a top speed of 155 mph on summer tires. (With all-season tires, that top speed falls to 130 mph.) A multi-link suspension with active dampening helps keep the SQ5 Sportback precise in corners. Four-wheel ventilated disk brakes with six-piston front brakes bring the Sportback to a swift and accurate stop.
The 2023 Audi SQ5 Sportback returns an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city, 24 highway, and 21 combined. It requires premium fuel.
The SQ5 Sportback comes with a host of advanced driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams. For 2023, adaptive cruise control is now part of the list of standard safety tech. Features like a surround-view parking camera system, traffic-sign recognition, and a head-up display are optional or available on higher trims.
The 2023 Audi SQ5 Sportback starts at $59,200 for the base Premium trim. The Premium Plus trim starts at $62,900, and the range-topping Prestige trim starts at $68,100. The SQ5 Sportback comes with a four-year/50,000-mile limited warranty.
