Can a manual 6sp trans be installed in a 2003 Audi RS6?
I want to purchase a 2003 RS6 Audi and install a 6sp manual transmission instead of the stock 5sp automatic.Can I use the 6sp transmission to The A 2.7T? Thanks, Rich

Previously, Audi's only performance version of its A6 was the S6. But the 2003 S6 was only offered as an Avant wagon. Practical and fun, yes, but maybe missing a little hip quotient. In 2003, Audi and its quattro GmbH subsidiary offered the Audi RS 6, a beast of a sports performer locked in the classic lines of the high-end A6 body. At the time, it was Audi's fastest car.
The RS 6 was a 4-door sedan, and it had the same 4.2-liter, 40-valve 450-hp V8 engine as the S6, but the 2003 RS 6 featured twin turbos. That meant the RS 6 could hit 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. With a 5-speed Tiptronic transmission and low-end torque action, acceleration was quick. It hit 415 lb-ft of torque across a wide RPM range. The ride is smooth and balanced, the interior so plush you may be unaware you're exceeding the speed limit by double digits.
The limited-edition RS 6 (around 1,000 were sent over here) was available for one year only. It featured a stiffer suspension, lower ride height and stronger shocks. It was also the first Audi to feature the Dynamic Ride Control suspension, designed to reduce body sway and roll during cornering. All-wheel-drive quattro added to its expert handling and road performance. Because it was built on the A6's frame, it was a fairly roomy family sedan, with folding rear seats for more trunk space. Standard features included leather sports-style seats, power adjustable seats and mirrors with memory settings, heated front and rear seats, a power sunroof, ski bag, parking assistance sensors and xenon headlights with washers. The outside was subtly distinguished from the A6 by a rear spoiler, badging on the grille, flared wheel wells, aluminum trim and dual exhausts.
The 2003 RS 6 cooks, and drivers love its overall performance. Acceleration is immediate and responsive, handling tight and confident, and the quattro always outstanding. All of this in a stylish, high-end luxury sedan makes for a perfect combination. Owners are disappointed with the outdated optional navigation system. They wish it came with a manual transmission. Others complain about customer service. Poor fuel economy and overall priciness are other detractions.

One of the best handling cars I have ever owned love the Dynamic ride control, great power. Only thing for a 2003 RS model it should have had a manual transmission option. Truly a beast in 2003!!! Only negative is costly repairs if needed.Mar 15, 2022

Great car, very rare of that year and very fast! only about 850 was sent to the US. Engine endurance is great, tho its a super sport sedan, it can be use for everyday driving. May 16, 2020

Amazingly tractable at low speeds and breathtakingly capable at higher speeds and it gets there quickly. Fortunately the standard Brembo cross-drilled brakes are there to bring you right back down. Quattro AWD will keep you out of the ditch unless you get too careless. Very nicely furnished inside and out; trunk is a little tight as they moved the battery back there to even out the weight distribution. Still not equaled (even by the later S6 and S8) after 9 years!Mar 08, 2012

Just drove home last week from Chicago with my mint condition RS6 34k daytona grey/ black w carbon fiber interior, fully loaded including summer package. Best 800 miles Ive ever spent in a car (not like my 2004 A6 4.2 isnt incredible) but the RS6 is RS-SICK! Everybody looks at the RS even if they dont know what it is, with its wide body with awesome exhaust sound. Looking forward to getting the A.W.E. chip mod to go from 450/415 to 520/532! I dont have a single complaint from inside to out, appearance and performance. Knew exactly what I was getting into... Although I havent brought to get Audi service yet... it was a car that i looked forward to driving at any opportunity. the suspension was really hard and you'd feel every bump in it. but it was worth it.
maybe it's because i'm still learning to get more out my rs4's manual gearbox
(in other words i'm a bit timid with it not that good a driver), but if i'm honest i may have i think prefered the RS6. Jan 05, 2008

The big advantage is 450hp (mine is now over 500hp due to mods)that provides a luxury ride that your spouse and your high end clients will love. Very comfortable with the get up and go. If you are looking for pure go fast, not the best car as it is heavy due to the luxuries. But if you want a perfect blend of high performance and luxury.. then it's a great car. At the time of this writing the gadgetry of the car is out-dated (I had to put in aftermarket navigation, etc).
It suits me perfectly. I took off the badges as the car is for me, not passers by to oogle over. So, for car is stealthy - my secret weapon. Every once in a while an enthusiast or a youngin that reads all the mags points at my car excitedly while mouthing "RS6, RS6?". I simply nod my head.. and daydream about that Vermont road with nobody on it.. Mar 22, 2007

can anyone help i have a audi rs6 2003 c5 avant i bought from a garage i had it 2 weeks and there was a noise out of the gearbox this got taken out and renewed by the garage then when i had it back i started hearing a wine thought nothing of it then 4 months later the front end locked up and would not move in neutral drive or reverse this sound like box trouble again any recommendations thanks seb
