I acquired this '98 TranSport Montana in 2008 from an owner who kept the car garaged and very well maintained. After over a year of ownership, I have had a pleasant experience. It is spacious, comfortable, has lots of bells and whistles, and looks pretty nice for an eleven year old minivan. Acceleration and braking are adequate and it handles fairly well for a minivan. Repairs can get expensive however, especially if the car was not well cared for. I have spent nearly one thousand dollars in the last twelve months alone. Most of the repairs were not entirely mandatory for the cars drivability, however, and could have been left out. I enjoy the car's exterior and interior styling, even at eleven years old. The car seats seven including the driver and the second and third row seats can be adjusted and removed for utility. My car is equipped with the leather seats and they are very comfortable. The gas mileage is 17 city, 25 highway and the gas tank volume is a whopping 25 gallons! With lots of city driving, gas costs can be expensive, but with a 25 gallon capacity, this van is the king of road trips. Equipped models even have a built-in air compressor in the back for rafts, inner tubes, flat tires, etc. Overall, I think it's a good car and I might even say its fun to drive for a minivan. Locks!!!
My wife went to the store today and locked the doors from the drive side lock button. When she returned she unlocked the passenger side door with the key, (remote we had died, and no longer works). and the alarm went off. She put the key on the ignition to see if it would go off, and it did not. She closed the door and went to the driver side door and locked it again and then unlocked it and the horn went off again when she opened the door. The car started and then died when horn was going off. Now the key will not unlock the doors from the outside using the key, but will lock the doors. The interior door switch will lock the doors, but will not unlock any of the doors either. Please help as my car is stranded with no other transportation. Thank you

Temp sensor malfunction?
I have a 1998 Pontiac Transport Montana. Recently the check engine light came on and the van overheated / has been overheating. The problem, I think, has to do with the radiator fans. They don't turn on when the engine reads hot. I believe that the temperature gauge is working correctly. When I'm idled at a light, the temperature slowly creeps up. When I start driving the temperature slowly goes down. I've read other questions on the forum that deal with this sort of problem but MY question is; if the temperature gauge is working correctly is the temperature sensor still potentially at fault? I would think that the component that tells the fans to kick on is the same part that tells the gauge what to display. Thanks.
