1998 Chevrolet Corvette Preview summaryImage

The second year of the C5 platform (1997-2004), the 1998 Corvette shares the C5 tradition of being a wonderful value in terms of its performance-to-price ratio.

Consumers applaud the car's handling and acceleration as well as its everyday drivability. Many are surprised to find out that despite its performance heritage, the car achieves relatively good gas mileage: 18 mpg city/27 highway. With comfortable seats and a trunk that can handle two golf bags and luggage for two, the 1998 Corvette can be comfortably taken on long trips.

As for drawbacks, consumers find that the car does attract quite a bit of notice. If you strive to avoid attention, this might not be the right car for you. In terms of repair history, the 1998 Corvette has a known problem with its steering lock column. However, this is not an expensive part to get repaired.

Overall, the 1998 Corvette offers great performance and comfortable everyday driving, all at a reasonable price.

Color is great . The convertible version of the 1998 added the trunk. Plus there was a reduction of over 1500 components which reduced weight and potential rattles. I prefer the convertible model. Great carMay 14, 2023

This C5 Corvette is a jewel. Appears like a new model, fresh from the dealer’s showroom. Very well designed for the novice sports car enthusiast. My only issue was the single cup holder too small. Jan 28, 2023

The C5 is as modern looking today as it was 20 years ago. Big bang for the buck. Sure it has old school styling on the inside but that is what makes it a classic. If you have never driven a C5 in good condition, then do yourself a favor and test drive one today. You will be smiling all the way back to the owner and to the bank if needed.Dec 28, 2022
