Black GN's were made 1984-1987. I always wanted one growing up as a teen in high school during the same time. In 2004 I bought my 84 and never looked back. It was in rough shape cosmetically inside and out, but brought it back inside and out myself except for the seats and headliner. This car is one of 2000 made in 84 and feel that it is a collectible piece of history. It isn't the first grand national(82 was the first), but is the first all black with the turbo 3.8L fuel injected engine (rated at 200 hp) that eventually ended with the nasty 87 GNX.(factory rated at 276hp with only 547 made). My car being an 84 may not be as desirable as the later years due to horsepower and quickness, but are much more collectible due to lower production numbers. I have found that it can be made as quick as the later production cars with a few (expensive) modifications. You can get as much power as you want out of these things as long as you put money in them. Remember it's just a little V6! The quickest U.S. produuction car made from 84-87 and with a few modifications can still be competitive today.Jan 31, 2013
