I have a 1974 cj5 that was used at the jeep factory by the engineering dept.there was 6 they used as test jeeps .I found it in a barn where it has been for 20 some years . could this be true ? I can't find anything about it

My brother and I are rebuilding a 1974 cj5 with a 304cm 5.0L V8 engine. We took the distributor out and was going to replace it and once we got it in, the jeep wouldn't start. Does anyone have any advice at what we can do as like firing order and we can get it working?
