This was a very fun vehicle to drive! You wouldn't get a speeding ticket in this thing! It's top speed was 55 mph, on flat ground, with no head wind (downhill helped). The 1965 was the first yerar of the CJ5 Jeeps. It looked very similar to the 1964 Willys except that the front fenders were bent down. It had knockouts on the hood to add a snorkel intake and a raised exhaust for that deep creek or river you might want to cross. The factory manual explained how to reconfigure the motor to turn it into a generator. From the point of view of just an off-road vehicle it was awesome! It was a very ugly yellowish color, it was a rust bucket, with rusty white rims, the top was old and had several tears and worm spots but was good enough to keep the rain out. Strangely enough i loved it. The transmission locked up in third gear and died on me finally. I couldn't find anyone that knew how to fix the transmission and a custom parts builder wanted $800 to make me new tranny because he had to make a mold for the parts so I sold it. I was very bummed.Aug 08, 2009
