2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5: Exceed Your Expectations
2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5: Exceed Your Expectations
With the IONIQ 5, EV owners can have it all
Electric vehicles (EVs) are hitting the market at a rapid pace, and they’re not just growing in number: they’re getting better, more efficient, and packed with more features and tech than ever. Gone are the days when EV buyers had to choose between performance, convenience, or efficiency — today, Hyundai delivers on all three without compromise.
Case in point: the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5. This crossover combines convenience with surprisingly strong performance, and it leverages next-generation technology to improve efficiency whether you're charging or driving. The IONIQ 5's battery layout enabled Hyundai to optimize its interior around occupant comfort while packing in a range of features designed to make life easier, including some you won't find anywhere else.
With ultra-fast charging capability, competitive warranty coverage, and a long list of standard and available features, the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 delivers a value-packed offering that’s hard to beat.
Ultra-fast charging: Add up to 178.1 miles in as little as 15 minutes
The IONIQ 5 is engineered with a state-of-the-art 800-volt charging architecture, while most other EVs use 400-volt systems. Hyundai's setup enables ultra-fast charging, adding up to 178.1 miles of range in as little as 15 minutes[1]. If you’re far from home, every IONIQ 5 comes with a CCS charging adapter, giving you access to over 50,000 fast-charging stalls across the country where you can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 20 minutes[2].
Quick charging times aren't the only benefit of an 800-volt system — it also helps maximize driving range. Rear-wheel-drive (RWD) models of the IONIQ 5 now get up to an EPA-estimated 318 miles of range on a single charge[3]. Plus, Hyundai's system is designed to be more efficient when operating under a heavy load, meaning whether you're pushing the accelerator down or throwing a week's worth of luggage in the back, the range should not drop as quickly.
To further boost charging capability, the 2025 IONIQ 5 is the first Hyundai equipped with a Tesla Supercharger-compatible NACS port. This means instant access to over 17,000 V3 and V4 Tesla Superchargers—no adapter required.
A decade’s worth of peace of mind
While the IONIQ 5's battery charges quickly, one aspect of it certainly takes its time: the warranty. Both the IONIQ 5's battery and powertrain, which includes the 800-volt charging system and motors themselves, are covered by limited warranties spanning 10 years and 100,000 miles[4].
Additionally, the IONIQ 5 comes with a five-year, 60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty and five years of complimentary roadside assistance, no matter how many miles you drive[5].
All told: That’s a decade’s worth of peace of mind free of charge with America’s Best Warranty[6].
All-wheel-drive performance you can feel
Not only can you choose between RWD or available all-wheel drive (AWD) in the IONIQ 5, but you can also tap into up to 320 horsepower[7]. Depending on the trim, the AWD model can sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in as little as 5.1 seconds — thanks to its muscle-car level of 446 pound-feet of torque and the instant torque delivery of its electric motors.
With all that power, your friends with gas-powered vehicles will fade to dots in your rearview mirror faster than you can say, "Hyundai IONIQ 5." The bottom line? This crossover delivers a performance you probably wouldn't expect.
For those seeking a more rugged IONIQ 5, the 2025 model welcomes Hyundai's XRT trim. With 23mm lifted suspension, body cladding (complete with a neat digital camouflage pattern), a unique design of 18-inch alloy wheel, and two exclusive colors (Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl), the XRT stands out as the adventurer's IONIQ 5.
The XRT is not only about style, either. It delivers enhanced off-pavement prowess thanks to its all-terrain tires and Hyundai's HTRAC all-wheel-drive system. Drivers can easily engage Snow, Mud, or Sand settings via the dedicated Terrain Mode steering wheel button. Once activated, the car intelligently optimizes throttle response, wheel slip, and regenerative braking, as well as locking the all-wheel drive system's power distribution evenly between the front and rear axles, ensuring confident handling across a range of environments.
Relax: The IONIQ 5 has a long list of standard and available features
The available Relaxation function for the driver’s seat offers a feature you won't find from any other brand: with the touch of a button, the seat reclines into something closer to a chaise lounge. It provides leg and back support ideal for napping or reading when you’re parked and have a quiet minute to yourself.
Heated front seats and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat are standard, while heated rear seats and ventilated fronts are available for more added comfort. On the convenience front, the IONIQ 5 features Remote Second-Row Seat Folding, which does exactly what the name suggests. There’s also a hands-free power liftgate available that automatically opens for easier access to the cargo area when your hands are full[8].
Whether you’re on a camping trip or in an emergency, the available Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology means the IONIQ 5 can use its battery to charge an e-bike or run appliances[9].
Behind the wheel, you’ll find high-tech features like a digital instrument cluster, a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen, and an available head-up display to keep tabs on vital information without taking your eyes off the road. Advanced driver-assistance systems include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capabilities[10], and the available Remote Smart Parking Assist allows the IONIQ 5 to park itself using its cameras and sensors while you're standing outside[11].

Hyundai’s EV engineering benefits the whole interior
The IONIQ 5’s battery is underneath the floor, which, in addition to providing certain handling benefits due to a lower center of gravity, means more usable space for passengers. Without a transmission or driveshaft, the IONIQ 5 provides a roomier cabin and a flat floor, creating extra legroom and comfort for all passengers, especially those sitting in the middle of the three-passenger rear row. Beyond the comfort advantage, the flat floor also makes it easier to load larger packages.
The IONIQ 5 also maximizes space with an exceptionally long wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear wheels). That longer wheelbase unlocks several key benefits, from more interior room to a slightly smoother ride over rough roads and speed bumps, and even increased stability at speed.
The center console: Convenience at the touch of a button
For 2025, Hyundai redesigned the IONIQ 5’s center console, with most of the changes giving drivers easier access to comfort and convenience features. Controls for the available heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, and parking camera are now more easily accessible[12]. Also new for 2025: the available wireless phone charger is in the center console now, whereas, in many vehicles, it’s tucked away elsewhere in the dashboard.
