I have a base model Volvo XC60 from 2011, and its fantastic. No outstanding issues, comfortable seats, the base audio system is punchy but nothing insane. If you find one under 200k miles definitely pick one up!

Great reliable, safe vehicle, we purchased two, one for each of our first time drivers, twin granddaughters. One was recently involved in an horrific accident, and she walked away with only one small scratch. The car however was a total loss. We replaced it with the same model, we believe in it’s safety record…

Great car and all the bells and whistles!! AWD, great safety rating and nice midsize suv!!!! It was used so I got a great deal on it for a basically brand new car!! It has great gas mileage too. I was looking at Kia telluride and Toyota hilander but the Volvo met what I was looking for.

Overview
About the Volvo XC60
The Volvo XC60 is a luxury compact crossover SUV that was unveiled in 2008. However, the first model year for North America was 2010. The five-passenger XC60 is known for its practical yet distinctive styling, engine choices, spaciousness, and safety features.
What are the advantages of the Volvo XC60?
- Elegant exterior and interior design
- Variety of engine options
- High level of standard and available safety features
- Excellent crash safety ratings
What is the best Volvo XC60 model year?
While the debut-year XC60 receives high marks from consumers and critics alike, we recommend the 2020 XC60. This second-generation model is offered with three powertrains: turbo-four T5, supercharged T6, and plug-in hybrid T8. Updates included a larger battery pack for the T8 for improved fuel efficiency, a new high-performance Polestar Engineered trim, a standard 12.3-inch digital cluster, and active-steering assist added as part of the City Safety feature.
What are the disadvantages of the Volvo XC60?
- Not as engaging to drive as competitors
- Unrefined ride quality
- Confusing setup of infotainment and controls
Comparison: Is the Volvo XC60 better than the BMW X3?
The segment rivals offer completely different demeanors. Both come from respected lineages, have stylish designs, feature premium materials, offer advanced technology, and retain resale values. Those looking for a more performance-oriented experience should opt for the X3 while the XC60 makes a strong case for practicality and value thanks to its roomier interior, longer list of standard features, and strong safety scores.
Is the Volvo XC60 a reliable car?
The XC60 is given a below-average score on predicted reliability based on initial and long-term owner feedback and experiences.
Is the Volvo XC60 worth the cost?
The XC60’s strengths are its impressive safety record, practical Swedish style, and strong used-market value. However, due to its low reliability score and consumer complaints, the XC60 might not offer long-term value.
