Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: IQ.Drive
• Infotainment: an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity
• Fuel efficiency: The Jetta’s window sticker lists an EPA fuel economy rating of 33 mpg in combined driving. We averaged 31.8 mpg during testing in blistering late-summer heat. Notably, we achieved that result using the Sport driving mode the majority of the time. In Normal mode, the Jetta suffers a turbo lag problem, in which there’s a delay between pressing the accelerator pedal and the turbo building up enough boost to provide real thrust. Sport mode mostly resolves that, making the car more pleasurable to drive.

Which Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta offers these trims:

• S: The entry trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital instrumentation panel, Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Car-Net connected services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It suits you if you want the most affordable way into the lineup.
• Sport: This trim adds the sport-tuned suspension and keeps the same core tech setup, making it the best-value choice if you want a more engaging drive without moving up the range.
• SE: This trim adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless smartphone charging, and a voice recognition system.
• SEL: This trim adds a configurable 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro driver display, navigation, eight Beats Audio speakers, leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, upgraded digital instrumentation, and additional comfort features.

What Volkswagen Jetta do most buyers choose?

The Volkswagen Jetta years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.

These higher-volume model years tend to draw more shoppers because they offer a strong mix of availability, newer features, and pricing that still sits below new-car levels. More listings also give you more room to compare condition, equipment, and deal quality.

What is the Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

Most Jetta model years in the table are down year over year, which creates more room for used buyers to find value. The largest drops are concentrated in the newer years, while several older model years show smaller declines. That pattern suggests you can often shop with leverage, especially if you are comparing multiple recent model years.

The 2017, 2023, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Volkswagen Jetta now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −8.57% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −6.7%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 39.1% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 38.9%.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: One thing that hasn’t changed for 2025 is the Jetta’s turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It produces an unimpressive 158 horsepower but compensates with 184 pound-feet of sweet turbocharged torque at a low 1,750 rpm.
• Tech: The Jetta S and Jetta Sport comes standard with Bluetooth, wired versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and access to Car-Net connected services and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
