1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara 4 Dr JLX 4WD SUV Review
by Alfonso

So korean car's aren't so bad.

Sold it. 4WD worked well, only slipped on ICE. Had transmission problem and A/C problem. The 2.4L engine sounds like a 3.5L.

Avg. Dealer Rating: (8 reviews) "Well this is from the standpoint of two separate buyers. While two separate parties, we are aware of one another and our interests to purchase a vehicle from Hollywood Motor Company. We both had relatively differing experiences. I will speak of them both here. First is my own experience. Firstly, Justin was great. Very charasmatic, very kind, very understanding. I would give him the highest rating I could all things considered. I drove the car and it operated alright. Nothing I hated, nothing I loved. Overall was an enjoyable experience. When I returned the car I found that the price was relatively consistent and was in no position to budge. Their warranty they offer is weak as well, and I've heard they have tried to go back on their word. However I can not verify whether that is true. When negotiating the price, i heard consistently that it was well under the value for a car of its caliber and they needed to sell it. However, I've done my research and found that similar cars go for around 1000 below what they projected. I feel this may be due to them marking themselves as a dealership, while I consider them to be more of a private entity. If I were to purchase a car I would avoid the warranty and make sure you have money saved up and a good reliable mechanic. Justin was very understanding and did try to meet my needs as a consumer. He offered me a decent amount for my trade-in, but the price just wasn't in my range. I have since found a 2016 Kia Optima with lower miles and a lower price point. So I've opted (pun not intended) to go for that instead. I do hope that if the price were to drop they would consider calling me up and I would love to negotiate further. However, my uncle attempted to purchase this car and had a less than enjoyable time. The man he dealt with was agitated by my uncles consistent calls of interest but inability to come out. My uncle is a pretty anxious man, so leaving to come to the dealership wasn't an option. He asked me to look at it for him and take it to a dealer, but I was unable to do so. When calling to explain this to Rob (while also further explaining his hesitancy) Rob tried stiffened his tone and expressed an angrier tone than we had been exposed to from other dealerships. My uncle was told that he can be as cautious as he wants but the car was going to be gone by Friday. On the surface it doesn't seem hostile, but the tone made the moment. My uncle has since been relatively despondent and it's sad. He'll get through it, but it's definitely a bummer. Like I said, it's the tone, not the context. The car is still on the lot, to my knowledge, so the empty guilt trip to purchase the car wasn't appreciated. Moral of the story, your experience is dictated by two things: your willingness to crumble upon your own budget and the assistant you receive. Those who stay strong will not achieve a bonus, and you will not get your money's worth as the warranty is more or less outrageous considering that it isn't included in the price. Their prices are close to those of "other" dealerships when you include the information that other dealerships offer their warranty within the buying price. Hollywood Automotive markets low prices, yet only has them due to their unwillingness to offer what others offer alongside them. Their prices aren't low comparatively, their services are. They are a lot wanting dealership money, and that's how it is. In addition, in his anger, rob let my uncle in on a tip: they make more money by a customer financing than they do by a full cash payment. This might add some context to the reasoning of why they do not budge on price. "
