Suzuki Forenza Overview
Other than a name that suggests an exotic Japanese and Italian heritage, the Suzuki Forenza presents itself as your basic compact sedan. Suzuki basically brings you budget level models that take you where you need to go without the pomp and circumstance. The Forenza made its debut in 2004 and started with a 119 hp I4 engine. In 2005, the powertrain went up to 126 hp.
2006 marked the most significant time of change for the Forenza during which the compact sedan got a re-designed exterior and reduced its emissions. The number of trims went down to 4 for that year before reverting back to 6 for 2007.
Overall, don't expect much more than the basics from the Suzuki Forenza. This sedan does its job as a good first car for someone who can't quite afford the more powerful and luxurious models on the market.

The Suzuki Forenza has built a reputation among drivers for its affordability, with a strong emphasis on fuel economy and decent performance for city driving. Owners generally appreciate the comfortable interior and spacious cargo capacity, which make it a practical choice for families and first-time buyers. However, there are notable concerns about reliability, with many reporting issues related to maintenance and performance, indicating that some repairs may be necessary over time. Overall, while it is seen as a budget-friendly option, potential buyers should be aware of its limitations, particularly in terms of long-term reliability.

Car has a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine, and a 4-speed automatic transmission. Id say its comparable to a Kia Rio or similar economy car. Acceleration is about average. It stops well. Handling and ride are actually quite nice. Reviews I have read claim an average of 28mpg. I average probably around 35 and I have gotten 41 on long trips. It seems to have somewhat low gear ratios. I say this because at 70mph the engine is doing 3000rpm which is the top of the power band. The flip side of that is it does well in stop and go traffic. I have had to replace a head gasket because the engine was factory filled with GM Dexcool which was never changed and dissolved the gasket. That is the only major issue I have had with the car. The engine was pretty simple, so I did it myself in my back yard. Its actually quite reliable otherwise, and I have daily driven this car for 5 years. Its very easy to work on. The transmission fluid can be changed from 2 plugs in the transmission (drain and cold fill). For engine oil, the dipstick and fill cap are easily accessed, but the oil filter is in a slightly awkward place. I only tighten it by hand so it is easier to remove. It is too low to crawl under without ramps. Everything else is easily accessed with the hood up (coolant, PS, brake fluid, spark plugs). With the back seats folded down, I have 6ft 4in x ~3ft x ~1ft of cargo space. I have hauled lumber and moved using this car without too much trouble. Probably my least favorite part of the car is the road noise. You get used to it, but its much louder than any car I have driven. For an affordable daily driver, this car has been spectacular.
The Forenza is a basic compact car. Great for getting around town and decent handling. It makes a good car for a single person needing a dependable car. Interior is roomy and has good truck space. Mechanically is reliable and dependable.
Good economobile. I got it for $11k brand new. Can't seem to hurt it.
After driving this vehicle, I can say for the price and year youu can go wrong, Suzuki makes great car with affortable maintenance, fuel economy and realiable vehicles, very competitive against Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic , Nissan Sentra and even Hyundai Elantra
