Its standard symmetrical all-wheel drive ensures excellent traction in various conditions, while the recent updates, including advanced EyeSight driver assistance technologies and the rugged Wilderness trim, enhance its off-road prowess and utility. With a spacious interior and impressive cargo capacity, the Forester continues to deliver on versatility without compromising comfort or safety.
Other model years to consider
The 2019 Subaru Forester stands out as a highly viable option due to its average price of approximately $18,898 and strong user ratings of 4.7/5, along with 35% of listings classified as good or great deals. The 2020 model is also a solid choice, priced around $20,810 with a similar user rating of 4.6/5 and 33% deal availability, making it an attractive alternative for those seeking value. Meanwhile, the 2021 Forester offers a balance between pricing at about $22,226 and a favorable user rating of 4.6/5 with 32% good/great deals available, presenting a well-rounded option for buyers in this market segment.
Model years to approach with caution
When considering the Subaru Forester, buyers should carefully evaluate model years based on cost factors, customer satisfaction levels, and marketplace dynamics. For instance, the 2017 model has a higher average price compared to older years but receives solid user ratings, albeit with a significant percentage of listings not categorized as good deals. In contrast, earlier models like the 2010 and 2012 have lower prices but also exhibit lower customer satisfaction ratings and a high proportion of listings that may not provide optimal value. It is crucial for buyers to assess these aspects to ensure they make an informed decision that aligns with their budget and satisfaction expectations.

Overall, drivers have consistently praised the Subaru Forester across all model years for its reliability, spacious interiors, and excellent all-wheel drive capabilities. Many appreciate the safety features and comfortable ride, making it a top choice for families and adventurous individuals alike. However, some owners have expressed concerns about performance, particularly the lack of power and sluggish acceleration, as well as the outdated styling in certain models. Despite these downsides, the Forester is viewed as a practical and dependable option that often provides great value for money.

What people say
We love our new/used. Subaru Forester. We loved our Subaru Impreza, but it ha d done it’s duty. Trading it in for the Forester is wonderful. We know we can relay on Subaru’s amazing all wheel drive to easily and confidently drive in the winter. We really appreciate having a bit more cargo space for long car camping trips. Love our new Subaru!
I love my 2010 Subaru Forester! It’s the perfect size to accommodate adventures without being bulky or hard to maneuver. I used ittoday to transport a twin mattress and I never could have done that in my old car. My daughter is safe in the back seat and I can easily make adjustments inside to keep us comfortable. Highly recommend!
An excellent auto and a great value for the money!
Im a big guy (62) and I really like the headroom. We currently own an Outback and that car would have been more practical (towing). However, I feel more upright in my Forester instead of reclined in the Outback.
Awesome car:). A must with our winters. Wouldnt buy anything else.
