Used Subaru Crosstrek for Sale near South Dakota

How much does the Subaru Crosstrek cost in today's market?

Used Subaru Crosstrek prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Subaru Crosstrek's current nationwide average price is $22,288, and its lowest point over the past year was $22,007. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Yes — the Subaru Crosstrek is a strong used-car pick if you want a practical small crossover with broad owner appeal and a clear identity. The all-generations owner rating is 4.6/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Crosstrek for its all-wheel-drive confidence, solid build quality, comfort, handling, fuel efficiency, and safety features. Across the model years, it also earns credit for being easy to live with and useful for daily commuting as well as weekend trips.

Expert reviews rate the 2024 and 2021 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs show up in the form of modest acceleration, CVT noise or droning, and some infotainment frustrations on recent years. Even so, the Crosstrek’s mix of practicality, safety, and all-weather usefulness keeps it appealing for shoppers who value versatility over speed.

35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Subaru Crosstrek models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently point to the Crosstrek’s solid build quality, comfort, safety, and all-wheel-drive confidence as core strengths. Across the model years, it also earns praise for being practical, easy to handle, and well suited to everyday use.

• Owners rate the Subaru Crosstrek between 4 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk looks manageable, especially if you choose a well-kept example and verify service history and accident records.

What should I look for when buying a used Subaru Crosstrek?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 81.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2021 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight safety system with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: the 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 27 mpg in the city, 34 highway, and 29 combined for the 2.0-liter Crosstrek. Upgrade to 2.5 liters, and you can expect 26 city, 33 highway, and 29 combined. Figures fall a bit short in the Crosstrek Wilderness, but not terribly so: 25 city, 29 highway, 27 combined.

Which Subaru Crosstrek trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek offers these trims:

• Base: This is the entry point, with 17-inch alloy wheels, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and the Crosstrek’s core outdoorsy look and everyday usefulness.
• Premium: This adds the larger 2.5-liter engine, standard roof rails, and a more complete feature set for shoppers who want the best-value balance of equipment and price.
• Sport: This brings the 2.5-liter engine, paddle shifters, the 11.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the wireless charging pad.
• Limited: This adds the 2.5-liter engine, paddle shifters, the 11.6-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the wireless charging pad.
• Wilderness: This is the off-road-focused trim, with 9.3 inches of ground clearance, a ladder-style roof rack, unique exterior design elements, StarTex synthetic leather, all-weather floormats, and a 3,500-pound towing rating.

What Subaru Crosstrek do most buyers choose?

The Subaru Crosstrek years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you the broadest selection of trims, prices, and equipment. They also sit close enough to the current model to deliver newer features while still offering meaningful savings versus buying new.

What is the Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

Most Crosstrek model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because prices have generally softened. The declines are fairly consistent across the lineup, with only a few years showing smaller drops than the rest. That pattern suggests you can shop with some leverage, especially if you’re comparing multiple recent model years.

The 2014, 2018, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Subaru Crosstrek safe?

• 2024: 9/10
• 2021: 8/10
• 2018: 9/10
• 2016: 8/10

Subaru’s EyeSight safety system is standard equipment on the 2024 model, with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency steering on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.

For the safest used buy, the 2018 and 2024 models both post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Subaru Crosstrek now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −5.22% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −4.81%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 36.5% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 37%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $28,510. The Subaru Crosstrek offers a practical, easy-to-live-with character that makes it a strong everyday choice.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2.5-liter flat four-cylinder engine that's been available on the Sport and Limited trim returns, delivering 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. That same base engine is now standard on the Wilderness trim, too.
• Tech: The big infotainment system is standard on all but the Base trim. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad is available as an option across the lineup, standard on the Sport and Limited trims.
• Safety: Part of that expectation stems from the inclusion of Subaru’s acclaimed EyeSight safety system. Included as standard equipment, EyeSight is a camera-based advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that boasts automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. New for 2024, EyeSight employs a wider-angle lens to give it a larger view of the road and surroundings ahead, and it also includes automatic emergency steering on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.
• Starting price: Pricing starts at $26,220 for the Base trim level, including a $1,225 destination fee.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
