2003 Subaru Baja AWD Review
by Marc

A ride ahead of its time

I put most of my comments up above, all I can say is I enjoy this little car/truck immensely. I find it a real shame that the general public did not catch on more to these fantastic little rides. Only now are they in much bigger demand nearly a decade after they stop production due to lack of interest and overstock. I'd love to see Subaru bring the...

Avg. Dealer Rating: (71 reviews) "Found a car I liked so gave $300 to hold the car for 5 days. Then found one on a different lot I liked better. Called and told Midwest that I had had second thoughts on the car I put a down payment on and they immediately got angry with me said they had chances to sell the car but didn't because of the 300 non refundable I had put down to hold it. Said I had an agreement with them, which I did not. Basically shamed me because I was thinking of another car, so I got angry with them because they were angry with me. Pitiful business practice!! However, the other deal fell thru so I decided they had the car I wanted. Reluctantly I bought it from sketchy and rude Midwest. Make sure you bring someone experienced with cars, because this dealership was very deceptive in their representation of the car I bought. Told me the check engine light would come on but there were no issues...lies!! Got halfway home and the car overheated and went into safe mode. Had towed to mechanic who told me the car had a warped head gasket and said someone had been chasing the problem, wonder who?? Luckily I have a mechanic buddy who looked at car and found it was just air trapped in the coolant lines. $$relief$$. Also car has bad rear wheel bearings, bad window motor, bad door locks, and heater didn't work, all which was not told to me by dealership. And with this car and those problems, they would not budge but $200 on the total sale price of 7,999. Should feel good after purchasing a new vehicle, but after dealing with this dealership I felt like I got shafted!! Luckily the car with all those problems they thought they were unloading on a sucker turned out to be a good car after my buddy did a little work on her. Beware!!! They will take advantage of you if you are not knowledgeable about the vehicle you are looking at!!"
