A great vehicle, hands down the best version GM produced on this platform. I felt very secure putting my family in this SUV even during some of the terrible snow storms we had while owning it. I only had two beefs with it: I wish the option for push button 4-wheel drive was standard instead of AWD, and I wish it had more Saab blood in it than GM blood.

This is basically the trailblazer cousin with a couple of differences. First, it has the 5.3 V8. Secondly, it has All-wheel drive. This was not available on the standard trailblazer. Additionally, it is about 2" lower, the suspension is sportier and the steering ratio is quicker. As a result, this has a sporty feel. I use it to tow my 22' boat and it does it without complaining. Fuel consumption towing is about 9 - 10 MPG. Although, my boat is fairly heavy at 3400 lbs without trailer. Under everyday driving conditions, I average about 16-17...still not great. The interior is nice but definitely not as high quality as other european suvs. However, I do like the vehicle overall as it is quiet, does 0 - 60 in 7.2 and handles well.

Very powerful car. Gas mileage could be better. Quality is good. Fit and finish are good. Ride is stiff but road handling is really good in the curves. Very fun to drive but 5 speed would be better than the auto. Lacks cupholders but other interior finish is nice.

In general, the Saab 9-7x is the same as a Trailblazer and its many variants on the GMT-360 platform. Body specific parts are in VERY short supply, but because it is basically a Trailblazer, most mechanical parts are easy and cheap to find. Worry points: Trans cooling lines P.S. lines and cooler Leaking seals on front differential Air suspension Front hood rust SEVERE on 9-7x Front wheel bearings and signal to ABS/StabilTrac system Spare tire hoist (cannot remove spare) Body Control Module and windows....mostly fixed by service campaign. Overall, a VERY good premium level vehicle with easy maintenance and will last a long time if outside the rust belt. I would trust MUCH more than the newer FWD vehicles for long life and low service costs.

This mid-sized SUV was introduced in 2005 as Saab jumped in to grab some of the guzzler-buying crowd. It was a little late in the trend, especially since the 9-7X's foremost rival, the fellow Swede known as the Volvo XC90, had been in the picture since 2003 and has sold very well in its time. Saab called on its GM parent in this SUV endeavor, and sure enough, the truck-based 9-7X is undeniably related to the Chevy TrailBlazer and GMC Envoy. It's even made in Ohio. Saab has made its SUV more European than those all-American cousins by adding a firmer suspension, lower ride stance, stronger frame, and hardier brakes. Plus, the steering gets European-style tuning, the front stabilizer bar is bigger, and there's a self-leveling rear air suspension. And the location of the ignition switch in the center console screams Saab like nothing else--you're not going to confuse this product with anything GM-branded.
