Used Plymouth Voyager for Sale near Moultrie, GA
3.6 Overall rating
(53 reviews)Having driven this car along with a Dodge Ram Van 1500, Ford Windstar, GMC Safari and Plymouth Voyager for work, I must say that this car is simply amazing ! It might not look good, but that's all there is to say about it. One of the biggest surprises is the 3.0 V6 of that car. Having previously driven a ford 3.0 V6, I was expecting the summum of rubbishness. This engine is actually amazing ! It pulls like no other and moves this van like it weights nothing ! It's the fastest vehicle of them all mentioned earlier. Driving position is awesome. Braking is very good. Height is perfect. Interior is clean. Suspension is great too, even with a "commercial" load. Reliability is hard to tell, as we have only a few of those vehicles but it seems to be excellent. Room is sufficient. Fuel consumption is very good. The car seems to like rust a little bit, but it's not all that bad. Dimensions are excellent for city driving too. This car completely amazed me as it was combining the two worst vehicles I had driven previously, that is, the weak ford minivan and the rubbish Chrysler. Astonishingly, this car is actually my favorite and I loved it so much, it not only is my working vehicle of choice, but i'd actually consider buying one for daily use ! (That coming from a sports car guy is actually quite a big statement and shows a lot about what this car's worth !). Would definitely recommend this to anyone !
This is my aunt and uncle's family vehicle, a 1997 Plmouth Voyager short wheelbase with the Rallye trim package. It has power windows and locks, cruise control, A/C, AM/FM stereo with cassette player, CD player, and Infinity sound system. It has more than 130,000 miles, but aside from the usual problems that come with age, it is very very reliable. The V6 engine makes about 170-180 horsepower, and provides adequate acceleratation. The handling is okay, as is the ride. The only reason I give the appearance a low rating is because the van has been beaten to hell, and back, several times. My Aunt backed it into my Grandma's Buick in 2000, and has managed to damage both side-view mirrors backing out of the garage. The fit and finish of the interior is nothing special, but the van itself is as solid as a rock. It was a very beautiful vehicle when it was a brand new, don't get me wrong. Of all the cars anyone in our family owned at the time, it was the most popular.
Great car for the family of 4 or more. Rides well. Handles ponderously and top heavy. Inside is very comfortable. Motor is strong in the 3.3 V6 and trouble free even after 100k miles. Easy to park. Good crash protection for driver and passengers. Aside from regular maintenance and some electrical issues, it was cheap to own and maintain.
I ordered this car to get just what I wanted. It was a very good value considering its competition. Its a shorty with the 2.4 and 3 doors. I have always serviced and maintained it myself. It Made it all the way to 114k with with no issues. Very reliable. At that point I had the timing belt done, a new radiator, all accessory belts, and an A/C relay. Cost $1400. Now it has 120K and the chain for the balance shaft lost a link taking out the oil pump with it. Its all better now after another $1500, and seems to be running better than ever. I have never had any other issues. I hope that this latest was just a fluke. My mechanic seems to think so since he's never read, heard, nor seen anything like it prior to min. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend my van to anyone who asks. When you consider that after 13 years, amortizing the repair bills would be less than $300 a year, that's not so bad. Pretty good I would say.
I actually miss this anonymous mommy-mobile. Yeah, I looked and felt like a dork driving it, but it was very handy whether hauling people or cargo, and it drove pretty good too. Got decent mileage to boot. About the only complaint I had was the transmission was soft to engage into reverse when cold, and occasionally slurred shifts between second to third gears, the transmission being a commonly problematic area for the 3.0 liter Mitsubishi V6 and 3 speed auto combination in whatever it's installed in.
