The Plymouth Volare has a legacy shaped by mixed reviews from owners across its model years. Many appreciated its unique style and the sturdy slant-six engine, praising its reliability and smooth driving experience. However, common criticisms included safety concerns, poor design features, and subpar fuel economy. Overall, the Volare holds nostalgic value for some, but issues like electrical problems and weight limitations have deterred others.

One of the best cars I ever owned. Two tone brown ‘76 Volare’ with 225 slant six engine that wanted to live forever, coupled with a manual 3 speed transmission with overdrive and floor shifter made this little darling a pleasure to drive. Rode like a dream and never had a bit of mechanical problems with her. I wish I would have never sold it. I really miss that car.
This car was amazing, it was the slowest car I ever owned, but would recommend it to anyone who likes to turn heads whilst they drive. This car would eat gas like no tomorrow, but it was solid as a rock, looked amazing, and would treat you right no matter how much you beat it. Overall one of the best cars I've owned.
Ilove my beast its got a 360.My uncle and I worked on it for years together,he past away a few years ago and every time I'm in it it makes me happy.still needs paint but I'm gettin there.
What can I say... it's got the slant 6 deuce and a quarter, not the fastest around, but for 30+ yrs old, who's complaining? 13/21 mpg, no A/C (anyone got RU-13?) and it's faster downhill than up. With negligible insurance, and no repairs (cause I work on it myself), it's worth every penny in gas.
An appallingly bad car. Put together by disaffected union workers from a bad design - ours had the gas flap upside down (had to pry it up with a screwdriver to fill the tank), a Coke can rattling around inside the driver's door, a crappy transmission, and a carburetor that appeared to have been designed for a different make of car, so that the engine would flood and stall if you cornered too sharply or too fast. The only positive thing about the car was the great straight-6 engine, but since the carburetor had to be 'detuned' to keep it running, a lot of the engine's positives disappeared. The wildest moment I had in it was when a brake line went and I lost my brakes in rush-hour traffic at 40 mph. No fatalities, but a lot of excitement. Ugly, handled poorly, and got bad gas mileage.
